Vendor's References

Some vendors will include in their brochure, or otherwise make available, letters of recommendation from other clients. Since no one will include a letter that isn't complimentary, expect to read glowing reviews. Pay attention, however, to the details expressed in the letter. Is the letter vague and general, or does it offer specific evidence of the vendor's excellence? Is the signatory of the letter a high-ranking individual, such as a Vice President or higher? Is the letter from a reputable company whose name is important in your community?

Do not venture to verify the sources of the recommendation at this time. Save such diligence for the vendor you select. Continue to gather information.
